Filip Haag: ‹ODER NACH ABSPRACHE›
15.7. – 31.8.2013
Filip Haag is one of the magicians in the art field: be it with photochemical procedures or experiments with pigments and paint – his works always succeeds in amazing people. His fascinating surfaces or the surprising image composition – with both he creates compositions of an irritating depth. His works are made from controlled coincidences, and are somehow creating themselves during the creative process.
With virtuosity, Filip Haag applies paint and painting utensils; sometimes he only uses his simple hands to literally model his images. The works vibrate and lets one dive into the artist’s microcosm, which becomes the macrocosm of the contemplator. Fine luster of color are creating depths and let the surfaces become shimmery valuables. The works thrive from the manifold insights and perspectives and question in many ways the established habits of reception.
Often the paintings are developed from drawn structures. The paintings grow around a core and meander to almost surreal shapes. Also his bronze sculptures have focal points. They are small constructions of worlds, which change according to the line of vision; filigree but still very present.
The titles of the works are rather to be seen as possibilities than as precise hints to contents. The artist sees them as poetic expansions of the visual, they are suggesting narration in abstraction.
